The Monterey Bay Rugby Association (MBRA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting youth rugby across the greater Monterey Bay region, with teams forming in the communities of Santa Cruz, Monterey, and Watsonville. Founded in 2024, MBRA offers inclusive, community-based rugby programs for players of all genders and skill levels, ranging from U8 to high school. Our mission is to make rugby accessible to all, fostering teamwork, resilience, and a love for the game. Practices are held at local venues such as Shoreline Middle School in Santa Cruz, Anna Jean Cummings County Park in Soquel, Lincoln Park in Marina, and Watsonville High School. Generally, the 15’s season runs from January through March and the 7’s season runs from May to July, featuring age-appropriate progression from touch to tackle rugby in a fun, safe, and supportive environment. MBRA is proudly supported by local organizations and community partners, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to participate and thrive.
